ktalk Privacy Policy
ktalk is a safe place where members can share information about their experience with chronic kidney disease (CKD). ktalk respects the privacy of its members and will not sell, distribute or otherwise abuse your personally identifiable information. We strongly encourage members to protect their own privacy by not revealing your full name, home address, phone numbers, and other information that could directly identify you. We also ask that you respect the privacy of non-members of the Site such as healthcare professionals by not revealing their personal information in public areas of the Site.
The privacy policy describes the information that is collected from you, how it will be used and security measures in place that help safeguard your personal information. Personal Information Collected on the Site
We collect the following personal information that you submit voluntarily:
- When you register on the Site we collect your email address, a username that you choose and a password.
- In the user profile you may provide information on your gender, date of birth, location, interests, biography, diagnosis, and transplant history.
- When you contact us by email or provide us with feedback we collect your email address.
In order to improve ktalk, as well as to conduct research into how to provide better support for others suffering from CKD, your personal information as well as information about your visits to the Site, including content that you view and contribute, will be made available to selected researchers from the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan and the University of Michigan. Any information accessed for research purposes will be held in strict confidentiality. Unless otherwise specified by a signed consent form or other agreement between yourself and the researchers, any information used for research will be anonymized so that it cannot be linked to your identity.

Private Messages
Private messaging allows you to send emails to other Site members without revealing your email address--only your username will be visible to the message recipient.
Information in the forums and comments
Any information that you share as comments or posts in the forum are public for all Site members to see. All posts are associated with your username. Think carefully about disclosing any personally identifiable information in public spaces on the Site.
Privacy Policy Updates and Changes
KTalk reserves the right to modify this policy at any time by posting amendments and changes on this webSite. You will be notified of any substantial changes to the privacy policy via email. Minor changes to the policy will be documented at the bottom of this page. If you object to any changes in the privacy policy you can close your account. Continued use of the Site following notice of any such changes shall indicate your acknowledgement of such changes and agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions of such changes.
